It's natural that the UK's weather is so unpredictable that we're so concerned about it as a country. There has never been a better time to stay one step ahead of Mother Nature than now, with our ever-assistant iPhones at the ready. However, with so many weather apps available, deciding which one to download may be difficult.

We spent the majority of our time reviewing the effectiveness of weather applications when we were testing them. An excellent weather app is appealing to the eye and simple to use. The weather app is off to a horrible start if you have to rummage through many menus to figure out when it's going to rain.

What we didn't check was whether or not the forecasted weather materialized. There are two reasons for this: For starters, the National Weather Service provides the majority of the data for most weather apps. Some people use AccuWeather, Dark Sky, or the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to make their forecasts. Although the Weather television Channel and a few other organizations have their own forecasting algorithms, many apps are simply data conduits.

As a result, we've prepared a list of our personal favourite best and most accurate weather apps in the UK and Europe for Android and iPhone devices. As a result, whether you prefer Android or iOS, you'll find something to your liking.

Detailed information about the best weather app in UK

1. AccuWeather App - Most accurate weather app

AccuWeather app appears to understand what people want from a free weather applications. You can obtain a lot of information about current circumstances just by looking at the app's home screen, or you can use the widgets to cycle between your bookmarked places. The main page of AccuWeather is named "Now", and it contains a static graphic that depicts current weather conditions with the current temperature imprinted on it. Swiping left and right on AccuWeather's home page exposes more weather tools, each with its own screen. Weather Underground has a far better interface, with an info-heavy top panel and customisable tools at bottom.

The UV index, humidity, visibility, dew point, pressure, and a table displaying wind speed, direction, and gusts are all crammed onto AccuWeather's Now page. The My AccuWeather feature is located beneath all of this information and gives personalised forecasts for DIY projects, outdoor fitness, and other activities. This should have been a standout element, but it's underutilised, with nebulous statements like "The temperature is just right, with just the appropriate amount of breeze."

Pros Cons
  • The main page has a lot of information on it.
  • Locations are easily accessible.
  • Weather widgets display data for several areas.
  • Content that is multilingual.
  • Ad-supported.
  • It has a dated appearance.
  • Performance is sluggish.
  • Radar map data is scarce.

2. Weather - The Weather Channel App

The latest version of the Weather Channel app has improved on an already fantastic experience. It may be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. It works with the majority of modern Android and iOS devices, including the iPad, and now includes an Apple Watch app.

The present temperature and weather conditions are shown over a large, colourful picture on your app's home screen. The image is normally chosen to reflect your current location, but stock images are commonly used. You can also check what other Weather Channel users are saying about the weather and when the next round of precipitation is expected.

Sometimes, instead of a beautiful picture as the main page's background, you'll encounter an advertisement banner. These advertisements don't prevent you from using the application, but they aren't always nice to look at. This is in addition to the app's banner advertisements. You can remove these adverts for $3.99 each year, which seems a little pricey.

Pros Cons
  • Design that has been polished
  • Widget for the notification tray
  • Forecasts for the next few hours and days
  • Reporting on social media
  • Apple Watch compatibility
  • Customization is not possible.
  • Excessive scrolling is forced by the locked interface.
  • There are numerous advertisements.

3. Weather by WeatherBug App

By default, you're taken to the information-rich "Now" page, which is geolocated to your current location on Earth. The current temperature, the "feels like" temperature, dew point, humidity, sunrise, sunset, wind speed, wind direction, conditions, alerts, and barometric pressure may all be seen from here. That's a lot of data—enough to maintain weather enthusiasts satisfied.

The Home screen also includes seven customizable shortcuts to the forecast for tonight, the 10-day forecast, user-submitted photographs, the news-heavy Spotlight area, live weather cameras, the Spark lighting-detection technology, and pollen levels.

The 10-day forecast is seen by swiping left. The day, an icon for the anticipated weather, the high temperature, low temperature, and possibility of precipitation are all displayed on each entry (if any). Each part has a written forecast that can be expanded.

Pros Cons
  • A one-of-a-kind lightning-detection service
  • Lots of weather information
  • Live cameras
  • Very sluggish Interface
  • Contains Ads
  • Only a few widgets
  • Inefficiently organised

4. Dark Sky Weather App

Dark Sky App is centred on large, black text on translucent panels that allude to the app's magnificent radar map. The present circumstances, current temperature (and whether it's increasing or falling), and the day's anticipated high and low temperatures are all displayed on Dark Sky's main page. A new vertical timeline depicts the next 24 hours in 2-hour chunks, as well as the forecasted high temperature and weather. You can also have the same graph display the possibility of precipitation, wind speed and direction, humidity, and UV index if you scroll down. This approach appeals to me because it provides useful, general information at a glance rather than focusing solely on upcoming storms, as previous versions of Dark Sky did. This is all well and good, but weather enthusiasts will be dismayed by the apparent absence of nitty-gritty information.

Pros Cons
  • Excellent design
  • Amazing radar for the entire world coverage
  • Precipitation warnings are issued when there is a chance of rain.
  • Weather notifications tailored to your preferences
  • Option of crowdsourcing
  • Apple Watch compatibility
  • Not Available for Free
  • The interface isn't adjustable.
  • There is a scarcity of detailed weather information.

5. Weather Underground App

Weather Underground App differs significantly from the Yahoo Weather App and The Weather Channel apps in terms of aesthetics. Weather Underground uses text and stark colours instead of the beautiful, photographic backgrounds used by Yahoo and the Weather Channel. It isn't as pleasing to the sight, but it is quite informative. Apps that are more attractive, for example, may require you to tap or swipe before you can see the information you seek.

The Weather Company owns both the Weather Channel app and Weather Underground, despite their differing titles.

Weather Underground, like most weather apps, is mostly a vertical experience. The app's top screen packs a lot of information into a single screen. You may see the current weather conditions, as well as the high and low temperatures, the "feels like" temperature, the last time the app updated its data, and a link to the app's social Crowd Reports function. There's also additional detailed information including a miniature radar map, wind direction, precipitation possibility, and a textual weather forecast. Everything you're likely to need the majority of the time is right in front of you.

Pros Cons
  • The user interface is simple and clean.
  • Exceptionally adaptable
  • Forecasting in comparison
  • Customizable and smart forecast for  Outdoor activities
  • Observations on social weather
  • Forecasts for the entire day and hour by hour
  • Massive volumes of information
  • Alerts that can be customised
  • Advertisements
  • occasionally awkward navigation

6. BBC Weather App

The BBC Weather App, which was launched in 2013, is without a doubt the most popular in the United Kingdom. This easy programme helps you acquire all the information you need at a glance, no matter where you are in the country or what your plans are. It has all of the standard weather app features, including hourly data for UK areas and important worldwide cities for up to 14 days ahead. The 'Chance of Precipitation' feature warns you if rain, hail, or snow is likely. It also provides a 'Feels like' temperature that takes wind speed and humidity into account.

You can continue the weather discussion online with your friends through readily shareable forecasts to Facebook, Twitter, and email, in addition to receiving personalised weather warnings. It's almost as though they're encouraging us to moan about the weather! A text-to-speech accessibility tool is also included.

Conclusion

From the above comparison table and detailed list of best weather forecasting apps, Accuweather is the clear winner in all the terms. All other five apps listed are also the best among the other apps available in the market. But Accuweather leads the race for the best weather app in UK for android and iOS in the market.
